Kickoff workshop

This workshop aims to bring together researchers conducting state-of-the-art work on the different topics explored within UNPAG. That includes negation, quantification, polarity sensitivity and modality, among others. We will consider questions such as:

• How does polarity sensitivity manifest in modal expressions?

• Which combinations of force and flavor are attested among modals?

• Are there polarity-sensitive items that are not indefinites?

• Why do paradigmatic gaps emerge in the first place?

These issues will be discussed from computational, experimental, theoretical, diachronic and typological perspectives.

The workshop will take place from March 10 to March 12, 2026.
